Tropical Girl Scout Crowned Jr.Orange Bowl Miss New Adventures

 

 

MIAMI - Tropical Girl Scout, Camila Victoria Romero, participated with thirty lovely finalists in the Jr. Orange Bowl Royal Court Search. Camila was crowned the Jr. Orange Bowl Miss New Adventures 2012-13, for having written the best spontaneous essay from all thirty contestants.

Camila became a Girl Scout Brownie at the age of 7, since she began the Girl Scout journey Camila’s dedication has never weathered.  Her vision to be the very best Girl Scout she could be is what has led her to maintain her commitment to the Girl Scout Promise – To serve God and my country, To help people at all times and To live by the Girl Scout Law.  Her current troop is encouraging to her to pursue the path towards her Silver Award, which she is projected to receive in MAY 2013.

This summer, Camila won the coveted title of Miss “Pre-Teen” Hispanidad USA 2012.  Through her title she has been very active in the community embracing her new role as a young community leader representing the Hispanic Heritage by working with organizations such as the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital South Florida Chapter, the Miami Rescue Mission, St. Mary’s Cathedral Thanksgiving Food Drive for Haitian Families, to name a few.

Camila attends the 7^th grade at Somerset Charter Academy (SoMi) in South Miami, where she is an Honor Student part of the “Deserving Dozen”. This group is made up of twelve children that exemplify a positive role model thru academics and community involvement. Camila is a member of the Glee Club and the SoMi Cares Project, where they create awareness and raise funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Afterschool she enjoys learning the Art of Parchment – a beautiful manual form of art handed down generation to generation, is a member of the Miami Royal Ballet, and most and dear to her she is a dedicated Girl Scout – Cadette.

In the future, Camila looks forward to expanding her involvement in community service projects, and is looking forward to a promising high-school experience culminating with her plans to become a defense attorney, in her own words, “To make sure that everyone has a fair chance to live the American Dream.”
